LOS ANGELES - - The Paul Kopeikin Gallery is proud to present its third exhibition of images by photographer Mark Citret in celebration of the publication of his first monograph, Along The Way. The exhibition will consist of unpublished images from a recent trip to Italy (where he oversaw the books printing) and three series of spectacular seascapes taken during El Nino. The show opens with a reception and book-signing with the artist on Friday April 9th from 7:00 - 9:00 and runs through Tuesday, May 17th. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
I am touched by the reverence with which Marks eyes approach the world before him, the tenderness with which he sees subtle simple beauty that is nearly invisible to, and most often ignored by, passerby.
In 1969 Citret attended his first Ansel Adams workshop and went on to assist Adams for several years both in the darkroom and out in the field. Adams influence can be seen throughout Citrets work in the high quality of his prints and his overall attention to detail.
Citret is a commercial photographer specializing in architecture. However, the major portion of his more personal work concerns the landscape. Citret has been in numerous group and solo exhibitions and he teaches landscape workshops through the year His work is included in many permanent collections, including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
