Latin American Masters announces Mexican Modernism. The exhibit includes paintings and original works on paper by Diego Rivera, Rufino Tamayo, Francisco Toledo, David Alfaro Siqueiros, Gunther Gerzso and Carlos Merida.
Among the shows highlights are David Alfaro Siqueiross painting "Los Compadres," painted while he was incarcerated for his political activism in Mexicos Federal Penitentiary, Diego Riveras oil painting "Los Braceros," included in Germanys 1988 landmark exhibition, "The Image of Mexico" (Schirn Kunsthalle in Frankfurt), Rufino Tamayos monumental 1976 canvas "Niño en Rojo," and Francisco Toledos "Murcielagos Mirones" (painted during his 2002 stay in Los Angeles).
