Yves was born in Nice, France and lived in Paris until the age of five. He then moved to Ibiza, Spain in the Baleares Islands. In Ibiza, he was strongly influenced by the environment of the islands, where he spent the majority of his time surrounded by nature. At the age of twelve, he returned to Paris. He remained there until the age of twenty-one. While in Paris, he studied architecture and design for two years, cybernetics theory of systems for two years, and completed his mandatory army service. At the age of twenty-one, Yves moved to the United States of America, where he learned English in Colorado and then settled in Arizona, where he met his wife Kathy Papciak Klein. They have a daughter Joseffa. In Arizona, Yves studied computer science for two years at Arizona State University, finally graduating with a degree in sculpture.

During his sculpture studies, Yves became interested in robotic sculptures, which combined well with his fifteen-year background in neural networks and general artificial intelligence studies.

For the last several years, Yves has been devoting his time to creating the pods. The pods are a swarm of floating pods that interact with one another and genetically alter their behavior in relation to each other and their environment. However, the pod project has been postponed until a financial sponsor can be found.
