“Wack! Art and the Feminist Revolution” brings together artists who challenged stereotypes about race, gender and class, exploding the canons of art history, from the idea of male genius to the institution of the masterpiece. Feminist art covers a wide range of media as well as a wide range of processes. This show is not beautiful, not a blockbuster, and reviews have been mixed. But Wack! invites lively dialogue, raises consciousness, and makes the case that feminism has transformed not only art, but our culture.

Twenty-five years of publication means that we have a history to draw on, and relationships with you, our readers to maintain. But it also means that we must continue to look beyond the horizon, to find new ways to allow this vehicle to illuminate the public options for visual art.
