Kim Tucker, “Nature Boy & Skunk”, 2008, ceramic.

Super/Natural: Portraits from the natural world.

L2kontemporary is pleased to present “Super/Natural,” the first solo exhibition from Kim Tucker for the gallery, opening February 7 and continuing through March 7, 2009.

Super/Natural is an idiosyncratically playful portrait of Kim Tucker’s fantastical Eden. Skunks, opossums, humans and other exotic and not-so-exotic denizens exist together in this vision, which is at best that of an imperfect world. This work plumbs the depths of the subconscious, exploring the near impossible return to nature by mankind. The portraits that are presented here represent a sweet and comical look at the baseness of human beings, focusing on our relationship with the world that we inhabit. Tucker’s deft handling of her medium and sharp insight present us with real and imagined portraits from the natural world, the figures of the “Super/Natural.”

We would expect nothing less from her.
