Ruth Bachofner Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of new paintings by Doug Glovaski and Jane Park Wells October 18 - November 22. There will be a reception for the artists on Saturday, October 18, 4-6 PM.

Doug Glovaski’s abstract paintings elegantly harness rich textural applications of paint. Working on canvases slightly more elongated than traditional canvas ratios, each space is divided into two asymmetrical parts - one that is a field of strong, solid color, the other a quadrant of layered, dripping paint with an effect of light silky fabric or gauze. This division of space creates a duality on which both parts rely and create a lasting visual effect.

In her "Nong-ak" series, Jane Park Wells creates systematic chaos that leaves the eye moving about the canvas in search of it’s beginning point. The lines echo the lyrical movements of the Korean folk dancers within the framework of Wells' analytical systems. The parameters of the grid meet chance within the vivid colors and graceful abstractions.
