The Greenfield Sacks Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of new works by Charles Arnoldi in celebration of the release of a new monograph on the artist. The monograph, published by Radius Books, is a survey of work that spans over the 35 year career of this prominent Los Angeles artist.  The 240-page book entitled Charles Arnoldi includes 160 color images, an essay by Dave Hickey, and foreword by renowned Los Angeles architect Frank Gehry.

The exhibition of new works includes acrylic on canvas paintings and small gouaches on paper. In Arnoldi’s new body of work, each painting is comprised of irregular shaped canvases.  He continues to investigate the arc imagery, but now the arc is cut short or elongated as it intersects and crosses the various canvases.
Architect Frank Gehry has said that Charles Arnoldi has influenced his own work.  Gehry states, “The maturing Arnoldi has a secure color sense and the ability to work at large scale as well as to produce tiny, exquisite watercolors... this is an artist whose best is yet to come, who is still experimental and still willing to risk.”
Charles Arnoldi’s artwork is collected by the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Metropolitan Museum, New York, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, D.C. and the Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao.
