Paul Guillemette, “Found Wood 08 #4”, 2008, found wood and resin, 21x31 inches.

The Art Rental & Sales Gallery at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) announces a group show featuring four exciting Southern California artists. The public is invited to an opening reception on Friday, November 7, 2008, 6:30–8:30 pm. Refreshments will be served and admission is free.

Michael Giancristiano’s complex wood pieces are inspired by elements of nature and the concept of change, as he reveals the natural beauty of wood.

The views found in Rebecca Hamm's watercolor paintings illustrate beauty and transformation in nature.  Her work presents nature’s strength and resilience in response to destructive human intervention.

Paul Guillemette creates mixed media and plywood panels that are inspired by elements of nature and the concept of transformation. His work is largely abstract but also represents a geographical area of the earth undergoing dramatic change.

Yoichi Kawamura’s unique photographs explore the meaning of physical space, while allowing the viewer to discover something within the images that is familiar.

The Art Rental & Sales Gallery is located on the lower level of the Bing Center at LACMA. Artworks are available to LACMA members for rental, and for sale to everyone. The gallery is managed by members of LACMA’s Art Museum Council, a volunteer support group. Funds raised by the council support acquisitions and exhibitions at LACMA.

The exhibition is on view through Friday, January 8, 2009 during regular museum hours. Rentals and purchases can be made through the Art Rental & Sales Gallery at the show or during office hours, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, 11 am–4 pm. For more information about the exhibition, gallery, or the Art Museum Council, please call 323 857-6500.

Regular museum hours are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, noon8 pm; Friday, noon9 pm; Saturday and Sunday, 11 am8 pm. The museum is closed on Wednesdays.

The Corporate Program offers LACMA members the opportunity to meet with an Art Rental & Sales Gallery consultant, on a complimentary basis, for selection and placement of art in the workplace.  A six-month minimum rental is required.  Should the renter choose to purchase the art, 60% of the rental fees will be applied toward the purchase.

Founded in 1952, the Art Museum Council is LACMA’s oldest support organization. Over the years the AMC has contributed towards the purchase of over 100 works of art, and helped to underwrite major exhibitions. Additional fundraising activities include the Los Angeles Art Show Opening Night Gala, the Art & Architecture Tour, Wet Paint–Sunday in the Park with Art and sales of the Julius Shulman Calendar.
