The Zimmer Children’s Museum’s mission is to promote values that help make a better society through interactive learning, creative self-expression and art experiences for children and families. The Museum is dedicated to teaching Jewish and community values, respect for others, generosity of heart, helping those in need, accepting differences and celebrating uniqueness.
The Museum is a creative cultural institution located on Museum Row in Los Angeles, featuring interactive hands-on exhibits for toddlers to 8 year olds; theme-related programs for families; toddler programs; Sunday theme-based community festivals featuring art workshops, theatre, and music for children and parents; school tours for pre-kindergarten through second grade classes that support curriculum; joint customized programming with other organizations to meet the needs of their clients, such as children with severe special needs; and community outreach whereby the museum takes its messages and arts activities to community-based locations such as shopping malls, neighborhood block parties, and public schools.

youTHink is a multi-faceted community-based initiative that uses the power of art to foster critical thinking, engage diverse learners, promote literacy, and serve as a tool for social change. youTHink primarily serves students at low-income, low-performing public schools. youTHink’s arts-based lessons for students in schools explore the major social issues confronting our world today. Each youTHink lesson addresses a different set of themes and opportunities for teachers. youTHink’s Youth Services activities are designed to introduce concepts of social justice, social responsibility and community involvement to middle and high school students beyond the classroom, using the arts as a primary vehicle to engage students: Internship, Teen & Government in Action, Arts in Action, Club youTHink, and monthly events. youTHink offers customized training sessions about a range of topics, including diversity, corporate responsibility, teambuilding and strengthening critical thinking for corporations, businesses, and community organizations; and curates exhibits of students’ social commentary art for display in various community locations.
