(Los Angeles, CA) - Thinkspace Gallery is proud to present Mergers & Acquisitions. This exhibition will feature new paintings, custom toys, and original sculpture from the artist couple Kathie Olivas and Brandt Peters.
Kathie Olivas and Brandt Peters are both multi-media artists who reside in both Tampa, FL and Albuquerque, NM.
Kathie has been featured in numerous galleries across the globe and is represented in the permanent collection at the Tampa Museum of Art. She received her bachelor's degree in visual arts from the University of South Florida and has been exhibiting her work since 1996. Brandt Elling Peters is an internationally exhibited self-taught artist whose work is formed from the eclectic backdrop of his childhood; filled with ancient cartoons, Victorian toys and pre-WWII vintage ’Pop’ ephemera. Both are currently working on limited edition vinyl toys with MINDstyle and Wheaty Wheat Studios.
The collision of the their individual dark and dreamy worlds allow both the opportunity to explore new characters and storylines - Alluring pin-ups and corroded robots invade soft, post-apocalyptic landscapes inhabited precociously mutated tots. The cast is inspired by early American portraiture and depression era animation that often depicted children as small adults in idealized new lands. The series focuses on imperfect characters that parallel this vision within their own sense of post-apocalyptic conformity, uniquely documenting their own stories and building their own defense mechanisms in mysterious brave new worlds.

Matthew Feyld bio:
Matthew Feyld is a Saskatoon based artist. His drawing process is a combination of imagination and reality. Feyld's work creates an on going narrative, often drawn from real events, and experiences leaving a large amount of room for interpretation. Ink, watercolour, and acrylic are the tools he uses to create a world where both human and animal share more than just their boots.
Feyld has exhibited in Canada, England, Belgium, Germany, Australia, Japan, and all over the U.S. from NYC to Seattle to California and back again. His work was also recently featured in the NY Times Magazine and was included in this year’s Bridge Art Fair in the UK as well as the Aqua Art Fair in Miami during Art Basel.

About Thinkspace Gallery:
Established in November of 2005, Thinkspace is a joint venture between Cannibal Flower and Sour Harvest and is headed up by the husband and wife duo of Andrew and Shawn Hosner (Sour Harvest) and L. Croskey (Cannibal Flower founder/curator), along with the invaluable assistance of Suzette Franck, Nicole Rosen, Valentine Reitblat, Brandon Adams and Jeremy Szuder.
Thinkspace exists as a catalyst for the rapidly expanding movement that is exploding forth from the streets and art schools not only in Los Angeles, but the world over. We are here to help represent this new generation of artists, to provide them that home base and to aid them in building the right awareness and collector base necessary for long-term growth.
Thinkspace was established to help these new talents shine and to provide them a gallery setting in which to prove themselves. It is our hope and dream that through these opportunities these individuals will prosper and continue to grow to amaze us all for years to come. With the love of and for our community, and with the talents of so many incredible artists involved, we believe that this movement will provide the necessary proving ground for the ideas and dreams of today to become the foundations of a new tomorrow.
Thinkspace Gallery is located at 4210 Santa Monica Blvd (near Sunset Junction), in the Silver Lake area, Los Angeles, CA 90029. Gallery hours are Thursday through Sunday, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and by appointment.
