LMAN gallery is pleased to announce a solo exhibition of sculptures and drawings by Rachel Portenstein entitled Sailing for Vengeance. The exhibition opens on Saturday, April 26 and closes on May 31. Regular hours are Wednesday through Saturday from noon until 6 pm. Open to the public, free admission.
Opening reception, 6 - 9 pm.
Portenstein returns to LMAN as a solo artist exhibiting a fresh body of work. In Sailing for Vengeance, she furthers her sensibility beyond paper, shapes and organic expression. Guest curator Rosanna Albertini wrote, “Her thinking moves towards a precise, spirited perspective, as if art forms might resuscitate a field of intensity, the physical shape of desire...” Her new work speaks more and more about her life.
Portenstein is a Los Angeles based artist. She received her BFA from Otis College of Art and Design in 2004. She also works as a commemorative objects curator at the Museum of Jurassic Technology in Culver City. Her work is in various private collections in southern California.
The gallery will publish an exhibition catalogue to be announced later. Please contact Lawrence Man at 213 628 3883 or info@LMANgallery.com for additional information.
