The Next LAAA/Gallery 825 Artist Membership Screening will be held January 25, 26 & 27 2007.

Drop off artwork: January 25, 26 & 27 10:30a - 5p (Please select one day. No appointment necessary.)
Pick up  artwork on Saturday February 3 from 10:30a - 5p.  

LAAA plays a central role in the Los Angeles arts community by providing local artists and the public with exceptional exhibitions and programs, as well as a forum for exchange and education through lectures, workshops and networking opportunities. LAAA serves a broad cross section of artists of all mediums, career levels and socio-economic backgrounds, including those from low income communities. By supporting the emerging talent at the onset of their career path, we hope to influence all the cultural stakeholder groups in Los Angeles and contribute to the cultural identity of our community. LAAA is pledged to providing emerging artists with the experience, education and exposure needed to create and sustain a career in the arts. Membership screenings are held twice a year, in January and July.

LAAA invites you to join us for a pre-screening orientation (Please don’t bring your submission materials to this Orientation).

Here are the specifics:
Pre-Screening Orientation
Saturday, January 20, 2007, 11am - 12:00pm
LAAA/Gallery 825 on La Cienega Blvd.
825 N. La Cienega Blvd. LA 90069

Applicants must submit the following five (5) materials during the Membership Screening:

  1. Two (2) original pieces of artwork created within   the last 3 years.
         Rules & Guidelines for submitting artwork are  as follows:
         -  Framed work and work on paper/canvas must be no larger that 4'x5' in either direction.
         -  No rolled canvases will be accepted.
         -  Unframed pieces must be professionally presented in a portfolio, mounted or otherwise protected and must be no larger that 4'x5' in either direction.    
        
-  Sculpture must be no larger than 4'x4'x4'.
        -  Film and video pieces must be submitted on VHS or DVD.
        -  Installation work must be submitted in the form of documentation, i.e. slides, photo, VHS or DVD, along with a sample/article from the  installation.
         -
LAAA will consider work in all media, but no craft or functional art will be reviewed.
 
    2. Three (3) slides of additional artwork,  properly labeled and submitted in a full page plastic slide sheet. (8"x10"  color printouts may
         be submitted in lieu of slides (please print on  photo quality paper.)   
    3.  Artist Statement (150 words or less)

    5. Non-refundable application fee: $25 (make  checks payable to LAAA)

All work is reviewed by the LAAA Exhibition Committee and guest jurors. Work will be picked up the Saturday following the screening.
Notification of acceptance or non-acceptance will be made in letter form and will be distributed on the day of pick up.
If accepted, membership dues of $225 annually (prorated in July) must be paid prior to being able to submit for shows.
