Maryrose Smyth, "No One Can Have Dreams" 2006, Tempera, 19" x 48”

I cordially invite you to the opening of my next show on Friday, November 10.  From 5-9 PM... Like a kid in kindergarten, I was open again with art. The impulse is there. Knocking. Even banging. Art grounds me. It is where I get to mix it up and be free, unpredictable, and passionate. I am questioning all my givens, blocks, fears, stories, and joys -- trusting my brush and learning to be true in my art. There are no mistakes in art. It is sacred, heart and soul. My current work in tempera is immediate and fast. It is profane, personal and political. It is a spontaneous, moment-to-moment thing -- an inventive and expressive sanctuary. Come Revel in the Comic Temperas of Maryrose Smyth.
