Los Angeles, CA- Left Coast Galleries will host a reception showcasing the many mediums of artist Filippo ioco at the Studio City location, 12324 Ventura Boulevard, from 7-10pm. The show will be the Fine Art Debut for ioco.
His is a journey that spans the globe and covers various mediums through which the artist expresses himself. While his first love was the fine arts, Filippo ioco explored the worlds of design, visual display and advertising. When he finally returned to fine art, ioco made the move to New York, where he studied painting with an artist who had established his own career as a sculptor. It was in New York that ioco’s artistic voice began to emerge through his muse of color. Filippo found that he could manipulate the colors by mixing the raw pigments by hand into acrylic washes and pastes. This “from scratch” approach enabled Filippo to mine the emotion and feeling out of his colors and translate them into the abstract color washes that define his work.
His art form, which he calls “The Movement of Color”, was born out of this exploration. It was this style, which allowed ultimate growth that evolved into another area of Filippo’s success as an artist. Refusing to settle into repetition or staleness, Filippo found that he could place a painted body in front of the work, which would become an extension of the piece, eliminating the boundaries of the canvas and inviting the viewers to interact with the piece on many levels. After capturing “Bodies of Color” on film, Filippo began to delve into body painting, using the male and female form as his canvas, and placing the bodies in different settings to create amazing illusions. As body painting sky rocketed, Filippo found himself focusing all of his attentions on meeting the demands of this new found audience; creating new works and maintaining his own self promotion.
Through his Body Painting, Filippo has been featured on Good Morning America, Ripley’s Believe it or Not, CNN’s Larry King Live, and the Travel Channel. Filippo has also received excellent exposure through Ad Campaigns and Special Events for AOL, Artisan Entertainment, Cirque Du Soleil, MAC cosmetics, Phillip Morris, Playboy and Red Bull to name a few.
Years later, after living in Puerto Rico and traveling the world as a body painting artist, Filippo has returned to the United States and to his first love of Fine Arts. In this, his first Fine Arts Solo Exhibition, Filippo will share his work, which has already been featured on HBO’s Entourage, “CSI Miami” and in such publications as “House Beautiful” and “Hollywood Life”.
Guests can continue to view Filippo's art throughout December, along with Chaz Guest, Andre Abijabe, Kevin Lewis Fougerousse, Samvel, Ben Coyle, Corno, Sandra Jones Campbell, and more at the Young Masters Exhibition at Left Coast Galleries.
