Gallery Nucleus is proud to present a solo exhibition by Mari Inukai featuring new and original artwork, installations and animation. In an attempt to express the contradictions of human existence, Mari uses the term “Kuro to Shiro” (Black and White in Japanese) as a theme to illustrate the importance of our coexisting dichotomies.  Similar to the concept of Yin and Yang this new body of work is manifested through relationships of love and hate, past and future, needs and wants, as well as other compliments in our daily lives.

Along with Mari’s consciousness and care for her surroundings, a portion of the proceeds from the exhibition will be benefiting the World Wild Life Federation.

Mari Inukai Bio:
Mari Inukai was born in Nagoya, Japan. In 1995, Mari came to the US to pursue her studies in Art. She attended Santa Monica Community College (Mentor program), Santa Monica, California, Associate in Arts, Sherman Oaks, California, and California Institute of the Arts, Valencia, California, where she received her BFA in Character Animation in 2004. Besides drawing, painting for galleries, she is often creating new animation work for clients like Nickelodeon, Nylonmotion Inc, and NGTV. Her short animated film, Blue and Orange, has been an official selection at numerous national and international film festivals including the Sundance Film Festival 2003, and was the Japanese Grand Prix winner at the Short Shorts Film Festival EXPO 2005.
