Charles Arnoldi, “Twinkle Toes”, 2007, acrylic on canvas, 75 x 64 inches.

Charles Arnoldi’s 2007 Arc paintings and drawings will be on exhibition at the newly remodeled Bobbie Greenfield Gallery October 13 – November 24, 2007.  These paintings represent a synergy of elements from Arnoldi’s past works with some exciting changes that create a new stunning body of work.  The painted arcs introduce the element of motion while still using a similar vocabulary and self restrained parameters of works from earlier in his career.
Arnoldi continues to use constructions composed of smaller canvases or “modules” that are attached to one another to create one cohesive surface ranging up to eight feet in height.  These separate canvases work in tandem to create a continuous movement of the eye.  Arnoldi continues to use vibrant colors to achieve a perfect balance across the asymmetrical placement of the modules within the surface.   The painted arcs connect and divide the modules, creating a rhythmic dance that is confined only by the edges of the overall surface.
Charles Arnoldi has been a prominent Los Angeles artist since the 1960’s.  His work is included in numerous museum collections including the Art Institute of Chicago; Guggenheim Bilbao, Spain; Los Angeles County Museum of Art; Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Museum of Modern Art, New York; Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington DC.
