Karen Hansen, “The Arrival of Eos”.

Abbot Kinney Art Gallery features acrylics on canvas of “light and lifescapes” by award winning artist, Karen Hansen.    Opening August 9 through September 4, a Reception for the artist will be on Saturday, August 13 from 5-8pm.
In 2001, Hansen, a native of Chicago, gave up the cold Midwest winters and 22 years in filmmaking and animation to pursue a new career as a painter in So. California.  The sun-drenched vistas of Los Angeles meshed perfectly with her love of color and the discovery of light and shadow - her inspirations for painting.  Says Hansen, “ my journey takes me from a landscape awash in sunlight to the glorious range of color…seen in a cactus, to the lyrical twist of a tulip leaf, to the planes of light across a person’s face, to the abstraction of all these things.”
Abbot Kinney Art Gallery, a new gallery in the heart of Venice, California’s thriving Abbot Kinney District and art center, currently represents a select group of 17 established and award winning contemporary artists from the greater LA area.  The gallery’s entire collection is eclectic and exciting with works on paper and canvas in a variety of media including 3-dimensional wall art, ceramics, glass and sculpture.  Other represented artists include:  Susanne Belcher, Marylyn English, Rachel and Avidan Ross, Sandra Cooper, Linley Eathorne, Susan Gesundheit, Sarah Willman Grote, Dafna Gilboa, Lee Goldberg, Yolanda Kapppert, Cynthia Kagan, Camey McGilvray, Mary McGill, Darlene Mellein, and m. Rheuban.
