AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), the nation's largest AIDS organization which operates free AIDS treatment clinics in the US, Africa, Latin America/Caribbean and Asia, presents AfricAlive: Portraits of Success, a traveling exhibit featuring 35 life-size photographic portraits (digital C-prints) of men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS, taken by globally-recognized photographer, Dorit Thies.  This series of beautiful, vibrant images of clients from AHF's clinics in Uganda and South Africa who have regained their health and strength on free AIDS medicines is a call to action and proof that Treatment = Life.

Fresh from a successful showing at the Prince George Gallery in New York City, AfricAlive will open at Track 16 Gallery, Bergamot Station on Tuesday, May 23rd with a 6:30 p.m. opening night gala reception (free, open to the public) and will be on display through May 27th.  The next stop on the exhibit's tour will be Toronto, Canada where it will open as an official event of the XVI International AIDS Conference 2006, on August 12th at A Space Gallery.

Moved by AIDS Healthcare Foundation's work in South Africa, Uganda and the rest of the world, photographer Dorit Thies captures the success of the agency's work in these portraits of HIV/AIDS patients on life-saving anti-retroviral medications.  A 10-year photography veteran, Thies is a master at creating powerful imagery and brings an intuitive eye and unerring technique to her assignments.  Thies' work has appeared internationally on behalf of major publications, prominent record labels, international corporations and top advertising and talent agencies.  In addition, Thies' fine art photography and conceptual work has been shown in museums and galleries around the world.
