Cal Poly Pomona Downtown Center Gallery Presents Paintings. . .by MICHAEL MAAS

Artist Michael Maas exhibits prolifically in Los Angeles and Orange Counties.  Maas is a self-taught artist who has been painting for 27 years. Maas has raced bicycles in Europe and worked in the financing field.
The June/July 2006 exhibit at the Cal Poly Pomona Downtown Center features never before seen paintings by Michael Maas. In his paintings, Maas explores surrealistic themes, lulling the viewer into a comfortable space with their organic and recognizable elements.  Maas works in acrylic on canvas, sometimes using many canvases to repeat a pattern suggesting that what we see in the confines of one frame is not the totality of the picture.  This exhibit is curated by George Cuttress.

Visit the Cal Poly Pomona Downtown Center, located in the heart of the Pomona Arts Colony- the opening reception is held in conjunction with the Arts Colony’s Second Saturday Artwalk event with free gallery openings, live music, shops and restaurants all in a 6 block radius.

Both of the receptions and the exhibit are open to the public, free of charge.
