Peter Blake Gallery is proud to announce an exhibit of recent paintings by Jeff Peters and Robert Porte.
Jeff Peters is an accomplished artist who finds inspiration in the many facets of nature. Regardless of whether he paints flowering trees, snakes, fruit or the glow of a night sky, Peters’ work possesses an ethereal, almost otherworldly quality. This is due, in part, to his mastery of line and a palette that is informed by the color field artists who preceded him. This exhibition marks an exciting new stylistic turn where he abandons calm luminosity in favor of nearly hallucinogenic compositions focusing on lightning bolts, scenic white capped mountains, and fog shrouded forests—all painted in vibrant Technicolor hues.
Robert Porte is a California artist who now lives in Montana.  His oil on metal paintings are highly inventive line and color compositions inspired by the myriad moods of the ocean and the interplay between water, horizon line and sky.

Porte’s recent paintings take his experimentation with color into exciting new directions, with some involving a reduction of color to its simplest values—blacks, blues or whites inscribed with simple lines suggesting a seascape.  Much like Porte’s overall body of work, this series of paintings invites meditation on the magic of light, the passing of time and the mysteries of nature.
Peter Blake Gallery, Orange County’s definitive source for contemporary art since 1993, is pleased to exhibit these new paintings by Peters and Porte, members of the gallery’s diverse cadre of talented emerging, mid-career and established, internationally acclaimed artists.
