“Warrior of Yagul” Watercolor 10 1&Mac218;2” x 14”

East Los Angeles, CA – Martinez, Current Watercolors, inspired by his current trip to Oaxaca, Mexico. On a late afternoon an ominous sky, before his epiphany, he was seized by an immense fear of dying. He saw him self dead on the side of the rural road he was walking, toward the ruins of Yagul. His imagination created a fable of the ancient warriors of Yagul. They will come to protect their territory, from any outsiders. The road became heavy on his feet. The plants and the wind were having conversations out of whispers and murmurs. The hills’ side rocks started to take on shapes of warriors’ heads, ornate with trees and small shrubs. The cumulus clouds were wildly dancing around the sun. Strange animal screams filled the empty air. Martinez willingly put his fear to the side and proceeded to indulge all that was mystical. Martinez had enter the porthole to the past; he has not been the same since.
