Scott Siedman, “Homeland Security”, 2004, oil on cnavas, 22 x 24”

Circle Elephant Art is pleased to present its second solo exhibition of the work of Scott Siedman. Scott Siedman’s new body of work critically interprets our current socio-political condition, while employing his usual technical mastery. Sampling images and stylistic methods from the entire span of Western art history, and borrowing freely from its symbology, Siedman reinterprets and reassigns meaning. Religious and historical imagery is recycled, recombined and employed in a critique of contemporary society, aiming at its soft underbelly.

In Siedman’s own words, “heroes of militarism and nationalism are placed in glorious uniforms and historic settings, but they don’t have any pants on.” Abandoning his previous resistance to addressing the issues of the day, Scott Siedman has moved forcefully towards a new vision, while incorporating his prior themes of sexuality and spirituality.

The art exhibition venues in Los Feliz conduct a “First Friday Art Walk” on the first Friday of each month, and the opening reception for this show will occur during the Art Walk scheduled for April 2nd from 7-11pm. Details may be found at .
