Bert Green Fine Art is pleased to announce a group show by Pharmaka, a group of Los Angeles-based painters, and the continuing exhibition of David E. Stone and Cathy Stone's site-specific work in the gallery's Project Windows.
Pharmaka began with 3 artists that met every other Tuesday to look at each other's work. They talked about their processes and what it meant to dedicate one's life to painting. From those studio visits, concern was raised for the history and future of painting and the role of the artists at the beginning of the 21st century. The conversation spread over many months of meetings; more artists joined the discussion; and a common thread was found. Pharmaka now offers the results of this exploration to the general public.
Pharmaka's participating artists are Fumiko Amano, Randall Cabe, Christopher Cousins, Stanley Dorfman, Shane Guffogg, Patricia Howard, Tim Isham, Christopher Monger, Ana Osgood, Michael Rosenfeld, Luke Rothschild, John Scane, and Vonn Cummings Sumner.
David E. Stone and Cathy Stone, working independently, have created site-specific installations in the gallery's Project Windows. Cathy Stone's installation features sculptural elements that refer to line, volume and gravity. David E. Stone's work is concerned with the ways in which "realities can be perceived" by way of "specificity" and is manifest using a variety of media.
All gallery events are free and open to the public. You are encouraged to forward this information to any and all interested parties. Exhibition information may be found at <http://www.bgfa.us>.
